Privacy policy
How SkinCompare handles your data when you use our price-comparison service. SkinCompare is a demo built on illustrative sample data, but we describe our practices as a real comparison site would.
What we collect
We collect only what you give us directly: an email address if you sign up for the newsletter, and an email address plus the product and target price if you set a price alert. Messages you send us by email naturally include whatever you write.
Like any website, our hosting provider processes your IP address transiently to deliver pages and to protect the service against abuse (rate limiting). We do not run analytics, we do not build profiles, and we do not track how you move through the site.
Cookies and local storage
SkinCompare currently sets no cookies at all, which is why you do not see a cookie banner. There is nothing to consent to.
Your saved products, comparison tray and community-post key are stored in your browser's local storage. That data never leaves your device, we cannot read it from our servers, and clearing your browser data removes it. If we ever introduce cookies (for example, analytics or affiliate tracking), we will update this policy and add a real consent choice first.
Sharing and retailers
When you click through to a retailer, you leave SkinCompare and that retailer's own privacy policy applies to anything you do on their site, including any purchase. We do not sell your personal data.
We share limited data with service providers who host our site, send our emails, and provide analytics, and with affiliate networks that attribute referred clicks. These providers act on our instructions and only for the purposes described here.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can request access to your data, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to processing. In practice, the personal data we hold is at most your email address and any price alerts attached to it, and we will delete it on request by email.
Every price-alert email contains a one-click cancel link. For newsletter removal or any other request, email contact@skincompare.eu and we will handle it within a few days.
